Would you like a cup of tea with that?

Culter Theatre Club Heritage Hall Teas

Well Culter Theatre Club were hard at work today serving teas at the Peterculter Heritage Hall.  Lots of people from the club had been baking and preparing things, and we had a team of avid club members on hand to prepare the hall and serve our customers in the afternoon.  You can see the photo above of the cakes and our photo display.  We had a lot of visitors to the hall for afternoon tea, including some finishing the Christian Aid walk along the Deeside railway - so we were very pleased to be able to give them some refreshments!

Don't worry if you missed it today - we're on again tomorrow where there be even more baking available, and we'll also have a bottle stall.  Some come along and join us between 2-4pm, raising funds for our new sound and lighting project.  And if you came today, we'd love to see you again!

Auditions Over… now comes the hard part!

Auditions OverWell a great big thank you to all the very talented people who came along to audition for parts in this years pantomime, "The Wizard of Oz".  We have some really tough choices to make as there are so many who'd be wonderful in the show.  We'll be undergoing our deliberations this week, and hope to let everyone know the casting by this weekend.

Don't worry if you don't get a part - or if you weren't even at the auditions.  We're also needing help backstage and for all the other vital roles in putting together a production.  So if you're handy with a paintbrush, have a flair for design, or can make a nifty costume do let us know as we really need your help too!

Wizard of Oz auditions are here!

Wizard of Oz AuditionsWell whether you were expecting it or not, August has crept right up on us - and you know what that means?  Yes that's right: it's audition time again!  This month marks the start of the work in earnest for this year's panto.

So, have you always wanted to have a go on stage but never dared?  Do you think you have what it takes to "ROAR!" like the lion, "CLANK" like the tin-man or simply "THINK" like the scarecrow?  Or perhaps your renditions of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" mean you'd like to go for the part of Dorothy herself?  And in addition to the usual suspects, there're some other slightly more esoteric characters... including "The King" himself!

Whether you'd like to be a principle role, or you'd prefer just to dabble your toe in being part of the chorus line, why not come along to one of our auditions and try out for a part?  We don't bite, and we'd love to see new people come along.

Audition songs this year are “If I only had a brain” and “Somewhere over the Rainbow”. Excerpts from the script are available to collect from the village hall week beginning 19th August, or you can also just pick one up on the night (you don't have to memorise it!).

Thursday 22nd or Tuesday 27th August
Culter Village Hall

Children aged 10-16: 7pm-8:30pm
Adults & Over 16s: 8:30pm-10pm

If you'd like to put up a poster for the auditions, you can download one here.  We hope to see you one of the audition nights!

Culter Theatre Club Needs You!

Well it seems that summer is well and truly here at the moment – I hope you’re able to make the most of it and enjoy some of our rare summer weather!  At the last committee meeting we were looking at a couple of things we’d like to do this autumn.  Some of you may know that unfortunately we weren’t able to get the grant for our sound and lighting, so we’re going to have to fund it ourselves – not to worry though, as we’ve got a couple of ideas for things – but we need your help…

Heritage Hall Teas
7th and 8th September

We’re looking for volunteers to:

a)    Provide us with home baking; and
b)    Help serve at the heritage hall on the Saturday and/or Sunday between 2-4pm

If you think you can help with either – or both of these then reply to this email.
As it’s the theatre club we also thought we might be able to put on the occasional bit of cabaret while the teas are on – if you have an act, dramatic reading, song or anything you’d like to do on the day, again let us know by reply!

Evening Cabaret
Either 29th September or 5th October

We’d like to see if we can put on an evening cabaret so again we’re looking for:

a)    Acts, songs, readings – anything cabaret!
b)    A volunteer/s to be the contact person to help co-ordinate the acts.

We’ll be doing this in conjunction with the hall committee so they’ll be able to look after all the food and drink, tickets and everything else to do with the show – all the Theatre Club needs to do is organise the acts!  We’ll then be able to share the proceeds – part going to raise funds to redecorate the hall, and part to the Theatre Club funds for our sound/lighting project.  If you can make one of the dates but not the other, please let us know.

R.S.V.P.

Let us know which one you’ll be able to help out on!
We look forward to hearing from you - use our contact us form!

Club outing to Rocky Horror Show

Rocky Horror ShowHey Culter Theatre Club supporters!

Hope your time since 'Allo 'Allo or even Panto hasn't had you missing the theatre too much, but if it is has and as a chance to get ready to camp it up again for our 2013 Panto of the Wizard of Oz, it seems only natural that we head to see the Rocky Horror Show, at HMT on Friday 13th of September! (even though we will already be rehearsing by then but one can never be too camp!)

We will be sitting in the mid-stalls area which means tickets cost £30.50 / each.

Closer to the time we will have a meal plan sorted out for those that want to catch a bite to eat / drink before the show and after work.

If' you're interested in coming along, let us know via the contact us page and we'll send out more details to you.  Money needs to be in by 28th June, so don't delay!

Theatre Club Stall drew the crowds!

Well the sun certainly smiled on the Culter Gala this year, and the crowds came flooding in once the parade arrived. With heaps of stalls for people to see and lots of events and activities going on, a good afternoon was had by all.

The Theatre Club Stall was looking very smart, with photos from pantos and shows past, and our more recent things. Plus, we had a Karaoke sound system that - if we'd wanted - they could probably have heard in Banchory. Those tech guys don't do things by halves - thanks Phil!

Hopefully you were able to come along and give us a visit. At one point we were drawing the crowds, as you can see in the pictures below, that was when the Culter "Take That" were having a go. If you did give us a visit, please sign up to our mailing list, or contact us online, and let us know what you're most interested in helping out with. We'll then make sure we keep you up-to-date with any opportunities to get involved!

Sing along with us at the Culter Gala!

Culter Gala 2013Ever fancied being part of a show, but haven't quite had the courage to get up on stage... yet?  Thought about helping out with the production team, or backstage crew, or just want to help out front-of house?

Well we're having a stall at this years Culter Gala, so come along and visit us.  We'll have pics of past shows, some of our friendly cast and crew to chat with and ask questions about the club - and perhaps there'll be a sneaky look ahead at what might be in the pipeline.

Plus, for you extroverts (and for those who just don't realise they're an extrovert yet), we'll be having a sing along with our karaoke machine - so you can wow the whole crowd on the day too!

Hope to see you there, this Saturday 25th May in the Culter School Playing Fields from 2pm (procession 1.15pm) - download the programme here
